A Goth Opera Auditions

Are you a triple threat? We’re looking for sensational vocalists who can act and dance for upcoming Autum shows. There is no dialog, as this is completely sung through.

We are looking for the following characters, who will have the unique opportunity to play both the principal parts and in the chorus.

Characters

Connor – Boyfriend – Tenor [D3-F#4]: (Male lead, character age 17 and 32 years old.) A shy nerdy boy who has a hard time fitting in anywhere. After Anna breaks his heart, he runs off to war, only to return injured and scarred. He turns his pain towards filmmaking, still pining for his lost love, Anna.

Anna – Girlfriend – Mezzo [A3-E5]: (Female lead, character age 18 and 33 years old.) A strong-willed character that will not bend to societies norms and rules. Does not want to be held down by anyone and likes being a misfit. Passionate about everything she becomes involved with but blind to future consequences of her actions.

Zac – Goth friend – Tenor [E3-G#4]: (Male character age 19 and 34 years old.) Blessed with good looks and confused about his sexuality. A smooth talker who uses his silver tongue to mask a deep insecurity. Loves a good party.

Thomas – Soul Vampire – Baritone [B2-G4]: (Male character age 22 and 37 years old.) Tall, dark, and handsome, a complete sociopathic narcissist. Leader of the Goths who morphs into a politician. Devoid of morals with an ego of a megalomanic.

Pauline – Anna’s mother – Mezzo [A3-C5]: (Female character age 34 and 49 years old.) Worn out from years of worry for her daughter and a life of being on her own. A broken woman.

Katie – Anna’s Daughter – Soprano [A3-F#5]: (Female character 15 years old.) A young woman, independent, strong and stable. Looks a lot like her mom, Anna. Has adopted a modified Goth look and has interest in filmmaking.

Chorus – Soprano, Mezzo, Tenor, Baritone: (4 minimum character ages ranging from 18 to 30s): Small Town, Goths, Festival, Town Folk

Timeline

Rehearsals will begin around 15th July, TBD South East, London

Showcase on the 25th August of Work in Progress, Greenwich Theatre

Performance September 1st – 4th, Edward Alderton Theatre, Bexley-Heath
